Our Firm, Al Muhamoon Al Mutahidoon, in collaboration with our partners, MEENAS, representing the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Iraq “BVMW-Iraq” was pleased to organize an event announcing the launch of the association’s branch office in Iraq. The event took place on the evening of Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Babylon Rotana Hotel in Baghdad. The association serves as a specialized platform to facilitate investment and business development in Iraq, providing comprehensive opportunities for communication, financial assistance, and strategies aimed at enhancing sectors in line with the interests of both the German and Iraqi markets.
The event witnessed a significant and active participation from prominent governmental entities, including Her Excellency the German Ambassador, Christine Hohmann, Mr. Mohammed Al-Najjar – Advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister and the CEO of the Iraq Development Fund, as well as representatives from the Dutch Embassy, and prominent businessmen from various fields and expertiserepresenting esteemed companies and institutions such as The World Bank Group, Sardar Trading Agencies, Liberherr, Asiacell, Siemens Energy, and Martrade Group.
The event commenced with a welcoming speech by Ms. Nisrin Khalil – Representative of the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Iraq, emphasizing the importance of the event as a step towards building trust and cooperation between investors and small and medium-sized enterprises in Iraq. This was followed by a speech from Ms. Hiba Basim Khaza’al, representing Al Muhamoon Al Mutahidoon Firm, affirming the foundation for economic cooperation between Germany and Iraq, highlighting the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and Iraq dated July 31st, 2012. Her Excellency the German Ambassador, Christine Hohmann, delivered a notable speech, outlining Germany’s vision to enhance economic cooperation with Iraq, shedding light on the significant opportunities that could result from fruitful cooperation benefiting both countries, emphasizing the vital role played by the new office in this context. The concluding remarks were delivered by Mr. Mohammed Al-Najjar, who emphasized governmental support for such initiatives that enhance economic stability, open new prospects for trade and investment.
The event was not merely an occasion to announce the commencement of activities but also served as a B2B platform for constructive dialogue and the exchange of views on supporting and empowering small and medium-sized enterprises as essential drivers of economic growth. The inauguration of the BVMW branch office in Iraq represents a strategic step in enhancing economic ties between Iraq and Germany, promising to be a significant resource for supporting commercial initiatives and developing small and medium-sized projects.
